At yesterday's brocante, well what I bought actually as Pauline was not there to save me from myself. Both paintings were in modern frames like the one on the left but I had the ones on the right which makes them look more than the €3.00 I paid.

After greeting current guests at 'Les Balcons' I headed over to yesterday's brocante at Cussay.
By the time I arrived it was beginning to wind down but I enjoyed the walk under the very hot sun.
Nothing caught my eye here...but then how could it!
Would love to see the car these came off...
and the wide-eyed traumatised child whose bedroom this big fellow sat in.
Mirror for that little princess.
All the sensible people were in the shade enjoying a refreshment....
but I wound my way round ending up at the contributions of the local 'Retro Mechanique' club.

The Benedictine priory church at Saint-Benoit-du-Sault dates from the 11th century…will at least some of it.
The Gothic bell tower was added to the nave at the same time as two side chapels were removed.
As an abbey church it is not ornately 'dressed'...
but the soft light from its stained glass windows helps bring in some colour.
It still has its romanesque arched wood panelled ceiling.
A rare piece of adornment in the form of a dedication to the Virgin Mary...no Joan in this neck of the woods!
A view of the Romanesque asp from 'Le Chemin de Ronde' the walkway around the walls of the village.

On the return from our recent foray into 'Berry Provence' we decided to head over to view the lake at Eguzon.Friends Mike and Liz who have actually followed the river Creuse from its source had mentioned how beautiful it was so we decided to look for ourselves...and weren't disappointed!

Went down to visit some new friends in the Limousin last week and on the way stopped of for a coffee in Le Blanc. It was scary to think it had been 10 years since we had last been there. When house-hunting we had checked out nearly all of the departments of this diverse region of ours Centre Val de Loire. The town is actually only one hour away from us here in Barrou but we do not venture down this way nearly enough, forgot how pretty it is.
Had to take a shot of this lovely façade on our way to a boulangerie.
Sitting on the river Creuse (just like Barrou) the town has some great views. These are from across the river heading up to the 'high town'.
Looking back toward its fabulous viaduct.
The weir on the river looking up to the 'high town'
There is more to explore...so we will be back soon.

The church of Saint-Genitour in Le Blanc was a Benedictine Priory up until the revolution. The original priory was built in the 12th century in a Romanesque style of which only the steeple and chancel remain.
Loved the door hinges.
The 13th century Gothic nave of the church is slightly offset to the chancel, perhaps they intended to knock down and rebuild the older chancel or maybe the architect had simply got it wrong!
The 15th century side chapel.
The church organ...but no Joan!
